Whats Next?
The thing about planning adventures is that you always need to have the next one in mind. Keeping a list of places that you have seen online or mentioned by others or possibly events that might be useful as a catalyst to build around. It is like a bucket of Lego bricks and there eventually comes a time when you have to piece them together and see what you can make.
Back in the spring of 2025 Ali suggested that the Rallye du Moroc would be a great one to visit. It takes place over a week and its possible to follow the event caravan as it moves around the desert. What could be better than meet up in the south of Spain, spend a week with the rally and then maybe a a few days in the south of Spain for me before heading the long way back via France.
The rally dates had not been announced when we agreed to do it but the plan was in place and we would wait for the rally dates. The 2026 adventure was sorted in a 40 minute flurry of WhatApp messages. We would use our 2025 Spanish trip to plan the last few details while sitting in the Zaragoza sunshine.
Somewhere in the following days the TMT was mentioned. Maybe we could follow the first part of the TMT to meet up with the rally? But then if you start the TMT maybe we would have to go back the following year and finish it. But would we go back, probably not.
The unspoken (or unwritten) consensus on the messages was if we start the TMT we have to finish it and so the seed was sown.
