The Plan

The plan is to follow the 3250-km Trans Morocco Trail (TMT) from The Mediterranean at Nador to Tan Tan on the Atlantic, via the Sahara Desert and Atlas Mountains using the brilliant trail and travel guide devised by Chris Scott and Ed Gill.

The TMT spans the length and breadth of the country, starting in the northeast on the Mediterranean coast at Nador. From here it winds south across the desolate Rekkam plateau before weaving westwards, looping between the High Atlas ranges and the arid Saharan fringes to end on the wild Atlantic coast at Cap Draa.

There will be around 25 days of driving on the trails, 5 – 7 rest days and 7-10 days of travel getting to and from Morocco. Its hard to see it taking less than 6 weeks in total. Our longest adventure yet.

Its a tough trail for both men and machines. Challenging but not dangerous in the right combination and this feels like the ideal time to take it on. There will be enough adventurers sharing the trail to help to make it feel safe and help out if things go wrong. As the trail gains popularity in the future it will feel less remote and less exciting and so 2026 is going to be the perfect year to embark on this unique challenge.
