Film and Photo
Over the years I have recorded hours and hours of film from the front of the truck. Somehow the gradient never looks steep, the track never looks challenging and the scenery not quite so beautiful. Frequent stops for photos usually means pointing the lens out of the door and capturing the view. The chance to set up the camera and compose that award winning shot are not likely to come up.
One of the things that I want to get right are the night time lapse shots. Not so much the stars and astro shots but the camp, the lights, the campfire and the desert around us. It should be great without light pollution to get some really good stills and video. I need to get onto YouTube and learn the right settings for both the Fuji camera and the little sports camera.
back in 2019 I managed to get really good shots of the Northern Lights by setting up the camera in the cabin and then setting it up outside and trusting what I had written down before leaving the UK. On the plus side I should have about 25 opportunities to get some night shots as we follow the TMT westward.
Morocco would make some amazing drone shots but they are banned and although the penalties are not severe the loss of the drone as you pass through a customs search would be expensive. So I am saved the expense of buying a drone on the basis that if I had it confiscated it would be double loss.
I am planning to do the Blog book as with the other big trips and so I need to keep in mind some nice shots for the book as well as photos that convey something of the vehicles and people that we meet along the way.
